Once you're all set up and ready to run with your Fi Collar, follow the checklist below to make sure you're getting the most out of your collar and app.
For steps to go through first-time activation, see Setting Up the Fi Collar.
Set up Your Fi Base Properly ✅
Having the Fi Base properly set up in your home is important to make the most out of your Fi experience.
Your base needs to be set up in a covered area where it can plug into an electrical outlet and connect to your Wi-Fi network. The base should be placed in an open area where your dog frequently spends time. Having the base offline, not plugged in, stuffed in a drawer, or out of sight will impact your collar's battery life.
If you have multiple dogs, we recommend setting up each base in different areas where your dogs hang out to extend coverage. Please note, any collar can connect to any base.

Always Keep the Fi App Open & Running ✅
Keeping the Fi App running on your phone is equally critical to being able to keep your dog safe. The same way your Fi Base keeps an eye on your dog by detecting its signal, your cellphone allows our tracking to differentiate between your dog going on a walk with you or an escape in progress.
When the Fi Collar cannot find the best connection source for your dog's current activity, it can lead to quicker battery drain and inaccurate reporting. Your Fi Collar may experience faster battery drain or inaccurate reporting if it cannot find a reliable connection source for your dog's activity.
You can check what source your Fi Collar is connected to within the app.
Add Your Wi-Fi Networks ✅
You can add up to 6 different Wi-Fi networks to your dog’s Fi Collar. You should add all networks you frequently use (home, work, etc.) to your Fi App to ensure your collar can always find a network to connect to.
Note: You can only add a Wi-Fi network when you are on-site with the Fi Collar - so consider it during your next trip to daycare!

Keep Your Fi Collar Charged ✅
It is crucial to keep your Fi Collar fully charged so it's ready when you need it most.
Your collar only has approximately 2 days of battery life once live tracking is turned on. Connecting to the proper source at the correct time will save as much battery as possible when your dog is not lost.

Understand Live Tracking ✅
If your dog is ever lost, timing is crucial to find your dog safely. We recommend testing and understanding how Live Tracking works prior to an emergency.
You can test Live Tracking at any time within your Fi App.
