The Fi base is a charging station for the Fi Collar but it does much more than that - the Fi base helps extend battery life of the Fi collar when its nearby, preserving battery for times when GPS tracking is needed. For more information about your dog's Fi collar battery life, see Battery Life.
It's essential for overall, proper functioning of your Fi system that the Fi Collar connects to a Fi Base, when your dog is at home, or indoors. To ensure this is the case, the charging base should be connected to wifi, plugged in, and in the area your dog frequents. This will ensure the that you receive timely notifications when your dog leaves your home's Safe Zone.
