How Do I Transfer a Fi Rescue Collar to a Foster Parent?

The Fi Rescue Program helps keep dogs safe while they wait for their forever family, either at the rescue or at a foster parent's home. If a dog is with a foster parent, you will need to ensure they have access to the dog's Fi Collar. 

Here Is What You Need to Transfer a Fi Rescue Collar to a Foster Parent:

1. The foster's email they use to log in to the Fi App.
   • If this is their first time working with Fi, they will need to set up an account before a rescue collar can be transferred to them. See: How Do I Set Up a First Time Foster Fi Account?
2. Access to your Fi Rescue Account. 

Steps to Transfer a Fi Rescue Collar to a Foster Parent

1. 1. Open the Fi App and LOG IN to your Rescue account. See: How Do I Check If I Am Logged in to My Fi Rescue Account?
   2. Tap the dog's Profile Tab in the lower right corner. Once you are in the profile, tap the 3 stacked lines:
      
      
   3. Tap on Manage Rescues:
      
      
   4. You will see two categories:
      1. 1. Select the dog you want to place: dogs listed here have not yet been transferred to foster parents.  
            
         2. Select a dog to recall into the rescue: dogs listed here are out with fosters. To recall a dog, see: How Do I Recall a Fi Rescue Collar?
            
            
   5. Under Select the dog you want to place, tap which dog you would like to transfer, and then tap TRANSFER TO A FOSTER PARENT:
      
      
   6. Enter the email address your foster uses to log into the Fi App (it must be the email they used to set up the Fi App) and the name of the foster parent. Tap TRANSFER TO A NEW FOSTER PARENT:
      
      
      • • NOTE: This dog will now show up in the Foster account but is also still available in the Rescue account. The Rescue will still have access to this dog. This process grants access to the foster of ONLY the dog(s) you transferred to the foster.
   7. When the foster picks up the dog, you'll want to ensure they also have at least one Fi Base, as they'll need this to charge the collar. A Foster should also be sent: How Do I Set Up a First Time Foster Fi Account? for further instructions on setting up the Fi Collar. 

What If My Foster Needs a Different Band Size for the Rescue Collar?

Fi Bands are interchangeable, but limited to their series. Our bands can be swapped with another size to fit a dog properly. If your foster needs a different size band for the dog they are taking care of, we have two options:

1. If you have an extra band in the correct size that you can give to the foster parent, they can easily swap out the bands. Follow full replacement instructions here. 
2. If you do not have the correct size band, please contact our Support Team with the band size and color preference, and we will make sure you get the band needed.
