When you are logged into your Fi Nano Partner Account, under MANAGE CHIPS, you will see three different statuses, Stock, Active and Review.
What Does Each Status Mean?
Stock
Every microchip that is associated with your Fi Nano Partner account will start out in the Stock status.
- The microchips in Stock, are:
- Microchips that are available and not yet injected.
- If a microchip in Stock is an available chip, that can be used, under OWNER it will show ----- dotted lines only.
- Microchips that have been injected but the pet has not yet been adopted - they are still under the care of a vet/rescue/breeder.
- If a microchip is showing a ----- dotted line and has a name, this is the pet that is associated with this chip and under the vet/rescue/breeder care:

Active
When the pet has been adopted, it is quick and easy for an owner to register their microchip with just their email and chip number. Once they register their chip, it will move the chip from your Stock to Active status - signifying that this microchip and pet is now under the owner's care and not the vet/rescue/breeder.
Microchips in the Active status have been approved by the vet/rescue/breeder and are now registered to the new pet owner(s).
- A microchip chip in Active is dually registered, meaning the chip has contact information for both the pet owner(s) and the vet/rescue/breeder.
- This is crucial under the circumstances of a lost dog so that if needed, a vet/rescue/breeder can get in contact with an owner. See: I Am a Vet/Rescue/Breeder, I Received an Email Regarding a Lost Pet, What Do I Do Next?
- Once in Active, the microchip's information is visible and registered to the vet/rescue/breeder - even if it changes hands to another owner - but ONLY the owner can edit the chip information. The owner is not able to edit any vet/rescue/breeder information.

Review
Microchips in the Review status are waiting to be approved by the vet/rescue/breeder. If an owner registers their chip on their own, the vet/rescue/breeder will receive an email from nanosupport@tryfi.com - titled "A Fi Nano registration needs your approval!" - to inform you that a chip has been registered by an owner and awaiting approval.
Once the owner has filled out their contact information, the chip will move from Stock into the Review status - where it must be approved - in order to be moved into the Active status.
- All chips in the Review status need to be either approved or rejected. See: How Do I Approve an Owner's Microchip Registration?
- In Review status neither the owner nor the vet/rescue/breeder is able to edit the chip. Once the chip is approved and moved into the Active status, the owner can edit the chip again if needed.
- Fi will send a weekly email showing any microchips that are sitting in the Review status. It's very important that microchips are approved as soon as possible.
- If a chip is scanned while in the Review status, only the vet/rescue/breeder's information will pull up and not the owner's information. Therefore, it will be the vet/rescue/breeder's responsibility to contact the owner for a lost dog. See: I Am a Vet/Rescue/Breeder, I Received an Email Regarding a Lost Pet, What Do I Do Next?
