You can register a pet's microchip to a foster by following the same steps as registering to an owner. See: I am a Vet/Rescue/Breeder, How Do I Register A Fi Nano Microchip For a New Owner? If the dog were to get lost, the microchip will now have both the foster and the vet/rescue/breeder's contact information.
Once the chip is registered to the foster, it will no longer show in your account - see: What Does Stock, Active and Review Mean In My Fi Nano Partner Account? - which means only the foster can edit the chip information.
Since the foster is now the only person who can edit the chip, once the pet is adopted, the foster must get the chip registered to the new owner. It is crucial that they do this so that the microchip has the pet's new owner information and not the foster's information.

Transfer Registration From Foster to Owner
There are two ways for microchips to be registered from the foster to the new owner.
- The foster or vet/rescue/breeder can have the microchip's information cleared so the new owner's information can be added by the vet/rescue/breeder. Please request to clear the microchip here.
- The foster can register the microchip themselves with the new pet owner's information.
