How Do I Request A Chip From Another Owner?

If you are taking over the care of a dog from another owner, and the dog has been chipped, you can request the chip be transferred to you. You must have one of the following for next steps:

1. Fi Nano ID (6 digit code from the yellow QR card) OR
2. The Chip Serial ID (microchip serial number, does not have to be a Fi Nano)

Steps to Request a Chip From Another Owner

1. If you already have a Fi Nano account, go to nano.tryfi.com and LOG IN to your account.
2. If you do not have an account, an account will be created for you when you follow the below steps.
3. Click on this link nano.tryfi.com/register.
4. Fill out the prompts using a valid email address and the microchip serial number:
   
   
5. As the new owner, input your contact information and fill out the pet details:
   
6. Once you have input the information, click Complete Registration:
   
   
7. Once you have completed the steps, the chip will show up in your Fi Nano account under MANAGE CHIPS as Transfer Pending.
   

   • Click MANAGE CHIPS from the menu:

     • If you are using a desktop, please fully expand your screen to reveal MANAGE CHIPS:
       
     • If you are using a mobile device, tap the 3 stacked lines and then tap MANAGE CHIPS:
       
8. The previous owner will receive an email from Fi asking them to accept the transfer. See: How Do I Approve an Owner's Microchip Registration?
   
   
9. Once the previous owner accepts the transfer, the chip will move from Transfer Pending to Active:

If your chip does not show up as Transfer Pending or Active, it could mean you have not filled out all the owner or pet information. If your chip shows Finish your registration, simply click into the chip and complete Owner and Pet information.
