If you receive a notification that your dog has left their safe zone, but they have not actually left their safe zone, this indicates a setup issue that can be easily resolved.
You may have received an inaccurate alert while your dog is without an owner or when they are with an owner. See below for information on how to resolve either scenario.
Inaccurate Exit Alert & Dog Is WITHOUT an Owner
If you receive an inaccurate escape alert and no owner is listed in the notification, "Izzy just left home", this indicates:
- The Fi Collar's GPS chips were activated.
- Fi received two GPS reports indicating your dog was outside a Safe Zone.
If your dog is indoors, it is imperative to avoid powering on the GPS or LTE-M chips. GPS or LTE-M is best used to help you remotely track your dog when they are outside. While indoors, it is essential to provide Fi Base, Wi-Fi or Fi App coverage. See: What Is the Best Connection Source for My Dog’s Fi Collar?
Inaccurate Exit Alert & Dog Is WITH an Owner
If you receive an inaccurate escape alert and an owner is listed in the notification, "Izzy just left home with Eric", this indicates:
- The mobile device of the owner listed is connected to your dog's collar. This is being used to report your dog's location. See: How Does the Fi Collar Obtain My Dog’s Location?
- The mobile device of the owner listed provided two inaccurate location reports indicating your dog was outside a Safe Zone.
For Series 2 members, we recommend ensuring your Fi Collar can access your Wi-Fi networks, and that your phone is also connected to the same Wi-Fi network. See: How Do I Add or Remove Wi-Fi Networks? This will ensure accurate location reports are submitted anytime an owner is at a location with a known Wi-Fi network.
For Series 1 members, ensure your home has adequate Fi Base coverage, to avoid using your mobile device for location reports. See: Where Should I Set Up My Fi Base?
