If your dog spends time with a dog walker, dog sitter, or caretaker, you can grant limited access to your dog's Fi Account by assigning Walker privileges within the Fi App. This will allow your dog's Fi Collar to pair to their mobile device, which will:
- Provide more accurate walk notifications (i.e. Dog is on walk with DOGWALKER instead of Dog is at XYZ address without an owner)
- Provide more accurate location reports.
- Preserve battery.
For members of your household or additional pet parents, we recommend making them an owner instead of granting Walker access.
See instructions to add or remove a Walker here.
Full Access and Limited Access
There are two permission levels for Walker access: Full Access and Limited Access.
Fi automatically sets the default access as Limited Access for Walkers, but you can edit this permission to Full Access if you want your Walker to have more control and visibility over your Fi App. See: How Do I Edit Owners, Walkers (Full Access), and Walkers (Limited Access)?
What Will the Walker See With Full Access vs. Limited Access?
The key difference between these access levels is map visibility.
A Walker with Full Access can view your dog’s location on the Live Tab map, while a Walker with Limited Access cannot.
Both access levels still allow your walker to track walks and activity while they’re with your dog.
If a Walker is given Limited Access, they will only see the Live Tab when the Fi Collar is currently paired with their Fi App. Otherwise, they will receive a notification that they do not have permission to see the dog's location.
Both Limited and Full Access Walkers can view and access the following:
-
- The Rank Tab
- The Community Tab with the ability to like or comment on photos.
- Partial Access in the Profile Tab, with the ability to view, upload, and share photos. Additionally, they can link their Instagram account to the profile. Please note, that only Owners have the ability to unlink an Instagram profile.
-
On the Settings Menu, walkers can:
- Add and edit Wi-Fi Networks. However, Walkers cannot delete Wi-Fi Networks listed.
- View nearby Dog Parks.
- Edit the Notifications they receive from Fi. Please note they can only edit their own notifications and not the Owner's notification preferences.
- Any Connected Apps that your Walker may have access to, such as Strava.
- Update their personal Account Settings.
