You can track your dog from anywhere with your Fi Collar, including when your dog visits a daycare or boarding facility.
Please note: We recommend working with trusted professionals who understand your dog’s day-to-day activity when they are away from you. This includes how you would be informed in case of an escape or if there is an emergency.
Setting Up for Daycare or Boarding
Here are some recommendations on optimizing your Fi experience while your dog is in a daycare or boarding center:
- Set up the location as a Safe Zone: A Safe Zone ensures you receive notifications if your dog exits a location they should be within. You about creating Safe Zones in the Set Up and Edit a Safe Zone article.
- Add an available Wi-Fi Network: This ensures your dog's location is accurately tracked while indoors. Learn how to set up the Wi-Fi network ahead of time in the Add, edit, and remove saved Wi-Fi networks article.
- Add any dog walkers to your Fi Account: You can add any daycare or boarding center employee as a Handler or Viewer on your Fi Account. Handlers and Viewers have limited access to your account and can be added or removed at any time.
- Bring your Fi Base: For extended stays, we recommend bringing your dog’s Fi Base to the daycare or boarding facility. This will help maintain the Fi Collar’s battery life, especially if the location’s Wi-Fi isn’t available to use.
Using GPS Tracking
We do not recommend using GPS for tracking your dog while they are at daycare or boarded. This is due to GPS accuracy being limited for the Fi Collar while indoors. We recommend connecting to Wi-Fi and/or bringing your Fi Base for the best tracking experience.
