A Quick Zone is a temporary zone you can set from the live map when your pet is away from home. Unlike a Safe Zone, a Quick Zone expires automatically after the time you select and does not get saved to your Safe Zone list. Quick Zones are ideal for situations where you want temporary peace of mind while you and your pet are out and about.
Common situations where a Quick Zone can help:
- A visit to a park, trail, or outdoor space
- A trip to a pet sitter, groomer, or daycare
- A quick errand where your pet waits in the car
- Any temporary stop away from your established Safe Zones

Adding a Quick Zone
The Quick Zone option is only available when your pet is currently outside of a permanent Safe Zone. Follow the steps below to add a Quick Zone from the live map.
- Open the Fi app and tap your pet on the Live tab to open the map view.
-
Locate the action bar, which is above the Start Lost Mode button and scroll to the bar to find the Quick Zone icon. Once located, tap the Quick Zone icon.
-
Select a duration for your Quick Zone. You can choose from:
- 1 to 12 hours (in hourly increments)
- 1 to 7 days (in daily increments)
-
Confirm your selection by tapping Save to activate the Quick Zone. Once active, it will appear on the live map with a green dotted border and display as Quick Zone along with the remaining time in the Live Tab.
Note: Only one Quick Zone can be active per pet at a time. The radius of a Quick Zone is set automatically by the app.
Editing a Quick Zone
When a Quick Zone is active, you can adjust its duration or boundaries at any time. The Add Quick Zone button in the action bar will change to Edit Quick Zone while a Quick Zone is active.
- Open the Fi app and tap your pet on the Live tab to open the map view.
-
From the live map, scroll the action bar and tap Edit Quick Zone.
-
The edit sheet will display the time remaining on your Quick Zone. From here you can:
- Adjust the duration
- Edit the zone boundaries
-
Tap Save when you are finished making changes.
Removing or Expiring a Quick Zone
Quick Zones are designed to expire on their own, but you can also remove one manually before it expires.
Automatic expiration: When a Quick Zone is about to expire, you will receive a push notification approximately 15 to 30 minutes before the zone ends. You will receive a second notification when the Quick Zone has expired. Tapping either notification will open the live map. Once expired, the Quick Zone is removed automatically and escape alerts will resume as normal.
Manual removal: To remove a Quick Zone before it expires, follow the steps below.
- Open the Fi app and tap your pet on the Live tab to open the map view.
-
From the live map, scroll the action bar and tap Edit Quick Zone.
- Then, tap Delete to remove the Quick Zone immediately.
Note: Make sure you have device alerts toggled on so you receive Quick Zone expiration notifications.
Converting a Quick Zone to a Safe Zone
If you find yourself returning to a location regularly, you can convert an active Quick Zone into a permanent Safe Zone directly from the edit sheet.

-
From the live map, scroll the action bar and tap Edit Quick Zone.
