Behavior Tracking is a first-of-its-kind feature that uses advanced motion modeling to detect patterns in your dog’s behaviors - like activity, sleeping, barking, licking, scratching, eating, and drinking - unleashing important information about your dog's wellness.
These insights live in the Health Tab of the Fi App if you have the Series 3+ or the Fi Mini.

Getting The Most Accurate Insights
Getting The Most Accurate Insights
First, to get the most accurate health and activity insights reflected in your Fi App, follow these best practices.
- Stay up to date: Make sure you are running the latest version of the Fi App.
- Maintain a strong connection: Behavior tracking works best when connected to the Fi App via Bluetooth, to a known Wi-Fi network, or to a nearby Charging Base if you have a Series 3+. Learn more about checking your device's connection here.
- Position the device optimally: To obtain the most accurate insights, we ask that the device be worn with the Fi logo facing upright and forward.
What to Expect
- More wear means more accuracy: The longer your dog consistently wears their device, the more precise and personalized their behavior insights will become.
- Behavior data updates with connection: Behavior Tracking insights are sent only when the device is connected to your phone, Wi-Fi, or a Charging Base. This means that your dog also must be within a designated Safe Zone to receive behavior insights. Additionally, you may notice a delay in updates.
- Walks are step-focused: During walks, only step counts are recorded. Behaviors like scratching or licking aren’t captured during active movement.
Behaviors Screen
The Behaviors screen is the first page you’ll see when you tap Health in the bottom navigation bar of the Fi App.
Here, you’ll find a breakdown of your dog's behavior trends displayed on the behavior card - including rest, activity, barking, eating, drinking, and licking. Scroll to view additional behaviors.
In the upper-right corner, tap "Today" to change the time range of behavior data displayed. You can filter data by Today, Last 7 Days, and Last 28 Days.
Behavior Card
Each Behavior Card includes the name of the behavior and a timeline.
The timeline uses a distinct darker color to show the duration of the highlighted behavior, marking the period when it was actively tracked.
When applicable, you’ll also see a trend percentage, accompanied by an arrow indicating whether the behavior is increasing or decreasing over the same data collection period (24 hours, 7 days, or 28 days).
Behavior Summary
To view a Behavior Summary, tap the Behavior Card you’d like to explore.
In the Behavior Summary screen, you'll find the following:
Scroll in your app to find the behavior comparison:
Comparison provides a summary of your dog's behavior versus the previous time period. You'll see how today's behavior compares to the same time yesterday. Colored areas show today's activity, and gray shows yesterday's. The percentage and time difference indicate how much more or less your dog is showing that behavior.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Fi Device measure my dog's behaviors?
Your device uses advanced machine learning to decode your dog’s every move. We used machine learning to train proprietary models that recognize each micro-movement of your dog while wearing the Series 3+ or the Fi Mini.
At Fi, we're not just keeping up, we're leading the pack in smart dog tech to help you understand and care for your dog like never before.
How accurate are behavior insights?
Behavior insights get more accurate over time. Thanks to our adaptive learning technology, the longer your dog consistently wears their device, the more precise and personalized their behavior insights will become.
Does it track hydration or food intake?
No. Fi does not track the volume of food or water your dog ingests. The device can, however, surface patterns of behavior - like increased drinking or reduced appetite - through activity monitoring.
Does Fi predict health problems?
Fi can help you stay ahead of potential concerns - but it does not diagnose medical conditions.
By monitoring changes in your dog’s activity, rest, and behavior over time, Fi can flag unusual patterns that may be worth discussing with your veterinarian. Think of it as an extra layer of insight to help you make informed decisions about your dog’s health.
My dog just barked. Why isn't it showing up in the Fi App?
Behavior Tracking data isn’t uploaded in real time. Instead, your device syncs data when it connects to a Fi Base, your phone, or a saved Wi-Fi network. Because of this, there can be a delay of up to 1–2 hours before new behavior appears in the Fi App.
My dog's at daycare or boarded. Will I get behavior data?
Behavior data is collected when the device is connected to the Fi App via Bluetooth, to a known Wi-Fi network, or to a nearby Charging Base. Check out this article for more information on setting up your device for daycare or boarding.
