The Fi Base serves a dual purpose with two essential functionalities: charging your Fi Series Device and acting as a connection source for your device when your pet is at home.
As GPS signals are significantly weakened when passing through structures (such as your roof, walls, etc.), the Wi-Fi connection provides a more accurate location for your pet.
When your device is connected to your Fi Base, it does not need to power its LTE-M or GPS chip - resulting in a greatly extended battery life.
The signal of the Fi Series 3 Base can reach up to a 60 metre radius, so it’s highly likely that one base can cover your entire home. In the case of a larger area, you may need to add multiple bases for adequate indoor coverage.
Requirements for the Fi Base
- Access to power: The Base must be plugged in at all times.
- Access to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi Network: The Base requires Wi-Fi to report your pet's location to Fi's servers.
- Line of sight to your pet: The Base automatically connects to your pet's device via Bluetooth - so it's ideally placed in a location where your pet most often hangs out.
