Having stable Fi Base connectivity is paramount to the accuracy of the Fi system and your Fi Device battery life lasting as long as possible.
Each charging base broadcasts a signal that reaches up to a 150-metre radius in open areas, and to further extend this coverage, you may consider purchasing an additional Fi Base.
Reasons to Set Up More than 1 Fi Base
1. Larger/Complex Properties: Fi Base coverage is dependent on Bluetooth range. The Fi Base must be able to "see" your pet's Fi Device to connect to it, and they connect via Bluetooth. Bluetooth range, independent of Fi, is impacted by "obstacles" it encounters (walls, metal, multiple levels, building materials, etc) and the electromagnetic environment (other Bluetooth devices in your home). Multiple Fi Bases can be used in a mesh system to extend coverage needs.

- If you have a larger home or multiple levels, you may want to add a second Fi Base to help extend base coverage.
- Maximising base coverage maximises the performance of your pet's Fi device.
- The Base Placement article will help you determine how many Fi Bases you may need.
- Note: Fi Bases must be indoors with access to electricity and Wi-Fi. You can extend coverage to your garden by placing a Fi Base near a window, but it won't reach outdoor pastures that extend far from your home.
2. Frequent Travel: If your pet is frequently at another location (such as a friend or family member's, pet sitters', office, etc.), we recommend setting up an additional Fi Base at these locations. This will help avoid having to transport your home Fi Base and having to reconfigure the Wi-Fi at each location.
Fi Bases for Multiple Pets
Each Fi Base will connect to any nearby Fi Device for up to 3 pets.
A connection to a Fi Base does not share any of your personal details. Only a Full-Access member on your Fi Account can see information about your pet.
