The Fi Rescue Portal is a web-based platform for approved rescue organizations to manage Fi devices, microchips, and adoption offers all in one place. Learn more about the portal and how to use it below.
You can log in and access the Rescue Portal at nano.fitracking.com/rescue.
Please note: The Rescue Portal is currently in beta and is being rolled out gradually to rescue organizations.
Rescue Portal Dashboard
The Dashboard is your home screen when you log in to the Fi Rescue Portal. It gives you a quick summary of your program activity, including:
- Total Fi Nano microchip counts, broken down by in stock and registered
- GPS device count and your Transfer to Adoption acceptance rate
- Gift with Adoption (GWA) Redemptions
- Quick actions, like registering chips, assigning devices, and creating new pets
Your Pets
The Your Pets section on the Dashboard allows you to search and sort through every pet associated with your rescue, including pets in your care, pets placed with fosters, pets that have been adopted out, and pet profiles without a Fi device or Fi Nano microchip attached.
You can filter pets by the following categories:
- All Pets: Every pet within the rescue, including fosters and pets that have been adopted out.
- Rescue: Pets within the rescue with no foster or adopter assigned.
- Foster: Pets that are within the rescue but currently assigned to a foster.
- Adopted: Rescue pets that have been adopted out and the device transferred. This includes adoption transfers where the device has not yet been activated by the adoptive parent.
- No Device: Pet profiles without any Fi devices attached to that profile.

Fi Nano Microchips
The Fi Nano Microchips section is where you can manage all of your microchip inventory from a single view. From this section, you can:
- Register new chips (from any brand, including non-Fi Nano microchips)
- Add pet information to a chip
- Search for pets by chip ID, pet name, or owner
- Add owners to chips in stock
- Transfer chips to your organization
- Order additional Fi Nano microchips
- Clear chip information
- Clearing a chip removes the owner's information but keeps the chip registered to your organization
Chips are displayed across three tabs: In Stock, Registered, and Orders. Each chip entry shows the chip ID, pet name, breed, owner, date added, status, and available actions.
Ordering Microchips
Fi supplies Trusted Rescues with free Fi Nano microchips. To order more microchips, click Order Fi Nanos in the top right corner of the page.
From there, input your contact information, quantity, shipping address, and optional notes. Click Submit Request. Orders are typically fulfilled and shipped within 1 to 3 business days.
Searching for Microchips
If your organization is a Trusted Rescue, you can use search for any chip in the Fi Nano database using a 15-digit chip ID or short code. If the chip is not found in the Fi Nano database, you will be prompted to search in the AAHA Universal Pet Microchip Lookup. This tool is intended to support reunification efforts and will allow you to see all owner and organization information registered to that chip.
After searching for the microchip number, click View to see the Chip details.
To transfer the chip to your organization, click Add to My Organization.
Registering Microchips
Registering a chip logs it to your organization and ties it to a specific pet. You can register chips from any brand, including non-Fi Nano microchips.
To register a chip, click Register in the Fi Nano Microchips section.
You will be prompted to enter the pet's details, including name, breed, and date of birth.
Adding owner information is optional. You can include it at registration if the pet has already been placed, or come back and add it later.
Adding Owners
To add a pet owner to a chip, click Add Owner and enter the pet owner's contact information. This information will be used if the pet is scanned and needs to be returned.
Viewing and Clearing Microchips
Click View on any chip to see the full details for that chip, including pet information, owner information, and chip information. Click Clear to remove the current owner's information.
You can also clear owner information from the Chip details page:
Chip History
Each chip has a history timeline that shows a full record of ownership and transfers associated with that chip. This is useful in situations where a pet has been transferred between owners or organizations.
To view chip history:
- Go to the Fi Nano Microchips page and select the Registered tab.
- Find the chip and click View under the Action heading to open the chip details page.
-
Scroll to the bottom of the chip details page and click History.
- From here, you'll be able to view chip history and additional details.
Managing Fi Rescue Devices
At the top of the page you'll see Pending Transfers, Transfer to Adoption Rate, and the total number of pets that have been adopted. The search bar allows you to search by device ID, pet name, or holder (either adopter or foster).
Ordering Devices
To order new Fi devices, go to the top right corner of the Fi Devices page and click Order Devices. Complete the form to submit your order request:
Activating Devices
Devices will be activated directly in the Portal when you add a pet.
- Navigate to the Dashboard
- Click Add Pet
-
Input the pet's information and click Create Pet
- Once the pet is created, click Add under the Device column
- Input the device's serial number, then click Assign to [Pet Name]
Managing Devices
Once activated, devices appear in the portal under Fi Devices. For each device, you can see:
- The holder (your rescue organization or a foster)
- Pet name
- Device ID and model
- Setup status, including whether a Safe Zone and Wi-Fi have been configured
- If Safe Zone or Wi-Fi is showing with a warning status, review the Set Up and Edit a Safe Zone or Troubleshoot Wi-Fi articles for troubleshooting steps.
- Online or offline status and last seen timestamp
- If a device is offline, review the Offline Fi Device Troubleshooting article.
- Battery percentage
- Available actions: Adopt, Foster, and Unlink Device
We recommend checking the portal at least once per week to confirm adopters have completed their transfers, review device battery levels and connectivity, and verify that all devices are showing as online.
Transferring Devices to Adopters
When a pet is adopted, you can initiate a Transfer to Adopter directly from the portal.
- Find the device in your device list and click Adopt.
- Enter the adopter's name, email address, and phone number.
- This must be the cell phone number of the person who will be setting up the Fi Device
- Click Transfer to Adopter to confirm the transfer.
The adopter will receive an email and text message with instructions to complete setup. They will need to:
- Download the Fi App.
- Enter their credit card information.
- Complete their device setup.
The device will remain in a pending state in your portal until the adopter completes activation. Once the adopter finishes setup, they will have their own household and will show in the Completed Transfers section.
Pending Transfers
The Pending Transfers section shows all in-progress transfers, including the adopter name, pet name, device ID, status, battery level, transfer date, and available actions.
From this view, you can:
- Send a follow-up reminder to the adopter via Email or Send SMS
- Cancel the transfer using the Cancel button
Transferring Devices to Fosters
To assign a device to a foster, find the device in your list and click Foster. Enter the foster's name, email address, and phone number and confirm the transfer.
The foster will receive an email and text message to complete setup. An automatic override will be applied so the foster will not be prompted to pay. Once setup is complete, the foster will appear in the Foster section. You can send SMS to Fosters or recall devices in this section.
When a device is transferred to a foster, a foster household is created that includes the pet, the device, your rescue organization, and the foster parent. If the foster parent already has an existing foster household with your rescue, the new pet and device will be added to that household instead. This means you will retain access to the device and its tracking data while it is in a foster home. To recall the device, use the recall option when the pet is no longer being fostered.
Gift With Adoption
Gift With Adoption (GWA) is a program benefit that allows adopters who leave without a Fi device to receive 6 months free on a Fi Mini. After the promotional period, membership renews at $189 per year.
Your organization has a unique promo code and a co-branded landing page that displays both your rescue's name and the Fi name.
To share the offer with adopters, your portal provides pre-written blurbs for email and SMS. Please share the Gift With Adoption link directly with adopters only and do not post it on social media.
Your Gift With Adoption dashboard shows:
- Page views from the last 30 days
- Redemptions from the last 30 days
- Total redemptions of all time
- Your unique link and promo code, which you can copy directly from the portal
