If you are fostering a pet and they were transferred to your Fi Account, we've outlined our guidance for the best experience.
You'll want to ensure you have the Fi App downloaded on your phone, set up a safe zone at your home, add your home WiFi network for the device to connect to, and, if fostering a pet with one of our Series Collars, set up a Fi Base at home. Please note that a Fi Mini does not come with a Fi Base.
Downloading the Fi App
The first time you foster, you'll be prompted to download the Fi App and create an account before you're able to track your pet. If you foster again, you will use the same account for the Fi App.
You can download the Fi App if your phone runs at least:
Make sure the email you use is the same one the rescue transferred the foster to; this will ensure you can start tracking your foster pet in the Fi App as soon as you're logged in.
Safe Zone Setup
It's important to set up a Safe Zone at any location your foster pet will be spending a lot of time, for example, your home.
To set up a safe zone, follow the steps in the Setting Up a Safe Zone article.
Add A Base & WiFi Network
Having a Fi Base* and a WiFi Network at home that the Fi Device can connect to is essential for long battery life and accurate tracking.
When you add a Fi Base, your WiFi network will automatically be added. To set up the Fi Base given to you by the rescue, follow the steps here: Add A Fi Base
You can add WiFi networks for your foster pet's Fi to connect to directly by following these steps: Add A WiFi Network
You'll want to add a WiFi network if:
- You were not given a Fi Base (i.e., have a Fi Mini instead of a Series Device)
- Your foster pet will be spending time at multiple locations
*You will only have a Fi Base if your foster pet has a Series Device, as the Fi Mini does not come with a Fi Base.
