The Fi App for Apple Watch (Series 3+) brings your dog’s activity tracking to your wrist, offering a quick look at their daily movement, rest, and goals. This article covers what you can track directly from your watch and how Fi ensures the most accurate data using your devices.
Walks Without Your Phone
You can use the Fi App on your Apple Watch to walk your dog without bringing your iPhone, but the features available depend on your watch’s connectivity.
Currently, the Fi App on Apple Watch does not support Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), which means it cannot directly connect to your dog’s Fi Collar. Because of this, your watch must be connected to the internet, either through your iPhone or cellular, to support certain features.
Here’s what your Apple Watch can do on its own:
Apple Watch with Cellular:
You can activate Lost Dog Mode directly from the watch, giving you real-time updates if your dog leaves a Safe Zone.
However, Walk Tracking will not work, since the watch cannot serve as the primary connection source for the Fi Collar.
Apple Watch without Cellular:
Lost Dog Mode and Walk Tracking will not be available when your iPhone is not nearby. The watch won’t have the connectivity it needs to support these features.
