Whether your trusty sidekick is a dog or a cat, you’re just a few taps away from unlocking powerful live tracking and health insights. Follow the steps below to ensure a smooth setup experience.
Please refrain from attaching the Fi Mini to a collar/band or harness until prompted at the final step. This ensures the best activation experience.
Setting Up Your Profile
Before starting, ensure that you have your Fi App open. Additionally, please keep your Fi Mini device, charging cable, and adaptor nearby. Once you are ready, tap Continue in the app.
Next, you'll be prompted to enter your email address, create a password, enter your name, and your phone number. Your phone number will be used for account verification purposes and future alert notifications.
After inputting your phone number, you'll receive a text message to verify your number. Type in the verification code and tap Next
You'll now be prompted to select which pet you have. If you have a cat, tap Cat and follow the steps under the Activation for Cats heading. If you have a dog, tap Dog and follow the steps under the Activation for Dogs heading.
Profile Section for Cats
From here, enter your cat's name and tap Continue
Select your cat's breed - you can choose from pure or mixed. If you aren't sure, you can make your best guess.
After selecting a breed, enter your cat's birth date and tap Continue
Select your cat's sex and weight, then tap Continue
Now you can choose your cat's username - if it is already taken, you will receive an error message. After selecting a username, tap Continue
At this point in the process, you'll receive verification that your profile is successfully created. Now you can start the steps to activate your Fi Mini. To continue, tap Next
From here, tap Start setup to begin activating your Fi Mini device if you are ready. Follow the steps under the Fi Mini Device Activation section for further assistance.
Profile Section for Dogs
From here, enter your dog's name and tap Continue
Select your dog's breed - you can choose from pure or mixed. If you aren't sure, you can make your best guess.
After selecting a breed, enter your dog's birth date and tap Continue
Select your dog's sex and weight, then tap Continue
Now you can choose your dog's username - if it is already taken, you will receive an error message. After selecting a username, tap Continue
Next, you'll be prompted to input a step goal for your dog based on their breed. To choose a target step count, tap Continue
Then you can choose the default step count or change it by tapping the plus or minus signs. Once complete, tap Continue
At this point in the process, you'll receive verification that your profile is successfully created. Now you can start the steps to activate your Fi Mini. To continue, tap Next
From here, tap Start setup to begin activating your Fi Mini device if you are ready. Follow the steps under the Fi Mini Device Activation section for further assistance.
Fi Mini Device Activation
To start the activation of your Fi Mini device, tap Start setup
On the device selector page, tap Mini and then tap Continue
Then, tap Continue to start.
Then, tap Allow to enable Bluetooth permissions. Please note that Bluetooth must be enabled on your phone to use the Fi Mini properly.
Next, you'll be prompted to plug in your Fi Mini with the USB-C charging cable to a secure outlet. After plugging in your device, tap Continue
You'll see a loading circle in the Fi App screen while your phone connects to the Fi Mini. Once complete, the Fi App will confirm it successfully found your Fi Mini. Then, tap Connect to Wi-Fi
Your Fi App will search for Wi-Fi networks. Once yours is located, tap on your Wi-Fi network name and enter your Wi-Fi password.
Note: Fi Devices only support 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks. If you do not see your network listed, check that your router is broadcasting a 2.4 GHz band and that you are selecting that network during setup.
After inputting your Wi-Fi information, you'll be prompted to enable location services. This is required for the Fi App to work properly. Tap Allow While Using App and then tap Save
You'll see a loading circle on the Fi App screen while the activation process is completing. Once complete, the Fi App will confirm the Fi Mini is set up. Then, tap Next
Now, you'll be prompted to set up your first Safe Zone. Tap Continue to start.
Next, create a name for your Safe Zone and change its dimensions by using the dots on the side of the green box. You can drag the dots to change the size, and also hold/drag the shape to move the location. Once complete, tap Save
Next, you'll be prompted to set up your notifications. Tap Turn on notifications to enable or Skip for now. We highly encourage you to turn on notifications to get the most out of your Fi experience.

Attaching Your Fi Mini
At this part of the process, you'll be provided with a video containing instructions on how to attach your Fi Mini to a collar/band or harness. We recommend having the Fi logo facing forward and not upside down for the best tracking experience.

After watching the video in the Fi App, tap Continue
Next, you'll be prompted to Add people to your account if applicable. If you're not planning to add more account holders, tap Skip for now
You've now reached the end of the activation process. To go to your Live Tab and see all of Fi's features tap Continue
