Battery Life Estimates
For Series 3+ or Series 3 trackers, battery life varies depending on your pet's daily activity and how much time they spend away from home. The table below provides estimated battery ranges for a single charge.
| Activity Level | Description | Estimated Battery Life |
|---|---|---|
| Low | Mostly at home or on short walks | Up to 3 months |
| Moderate | Regular time in the yard, frequently moving between indoors and outdoors | 4 to 6 weeks |
| High | Outdoors for most of the day with extended time roaming away from home | Up to 2 weeks |
For the Fi Mini, battery life is expected to last up to 6 weeks. Various factors, such as how often your pet's tracker is connected to Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, can assist in a longer charge duration.
Note that when you use Lost Mode, the Fi Series 3+, Series 3, and Fi Mini turn on live tracking to allow you to track your pet every few seconds. This mode is more battery-intensive and allows you to track your pet for about 2 days on a full battery. We recommend keeping this mode for emergencies only, where you need to track your pet's every step.
Fi Ultra Battery Life
Fi Ultra works differently from the Series and Fi Mini trackers. It is built for continuous location tracking, extended cellular range, and satellite fallback in areas without reliable coverage. Fi Ultra's always-on connectivity is why it has a shorter battery life than trackers that conserve power by connecting to a Fi Base at home.
You can expect about 2 to 3 days of battery life per charge. We recommend charging every 1 to 2 days so your pet stays connected.
To extend battery life up to 5 days, turn on Power Saving Mode in the Fi App. Power Saving Mode reduces how often the tracker checks in while still showing your pet's location.
Fi Ultra charges with a USB-C cable and does not use a Fi Base.
Battery Indicator Colors in the Fi App
In the Fi App, the battery indicator in the top left corner of your Live Map reflects your tracker's remaining power. This applies to the Series 3+, Series 3, Fi Mini, and Fi Ultra. The color of the icon changes based on battery percentage. These colors and ranges include the below:
- Green: More than 25% battery
- Yellow: Between 15% to 25%
- Red: Less than 15%
Tips to Maximize Your Battery Life
- If you have a Series tracker, ensure you have a Fi Base properly connected to your account.
- Make sure everyone in your household is added to the app and keeps the Fi App running on their phone.
- If you have walkers or people boarding your pet, ensure they are added to the Fi App as well.
- If you have a large property and have a Series tracker, consider adding another Fi Base. If your home is larger than 3,000 square feet, we recommend adding a second base to improve your indoor coverage.
- If you have a Fi Ultra, turn on Power Saving Mode in the Fi App to reduce how often the tracker checks in and extend battery life.
Tips for When You're Away from Home
If you're traveling:
- You can take your Fi Base with you and set it up at your new location.
- If you have a Fi Mini or you left your base at home, add the location's Wi-Fi network to your account.
- Ensure the Fi App is running on your phone.
If you're boarding your pet:
- Add the Wi-Fi network of the place where your pet is staying.
- Invite and add your boarder to the Fi App.
If you have a Fi Ultra, it connects over cellular and satellite rather than a Fi Base, so you do not need to bring a base or add Wi-Fi networks when you travel within the United States.
