Why Is My Rank Number Falling? 🤨❓
Seeing your pup’s rankings fall? This can happen for a few reasons:
- You are new to the Fi community - during your first 28 days, steps were only being accumulated, and as such, your pup’s rank was likely only climbing as they got more steps. The ranking is based on the most recent 28 days. Once you have been part of Fi for more than 28 days, this number can go up or down depending on activity.
- We all have a down day - and this will impact ranking. It’s normal to see a fluctuation in rank if during those 28 days, your pup had a few days or a week of lesser activity or steps. The ranking and step is a calculation of the total steps during that 28 day period.
- Other dogs that are in the same pack as your dog are getting more activity. This is particularly common in breed packs, as a dog living in Chicago in the winter is likely go on less walks than a dog living in Miami where severe weather does not impact their day to day activities as severely.
"Top" dogs use a specific strategy to ensure their ranking. Once you know how many steps you want to hit, (For example, 1 million) divide that by 28 to set a custom goal in the Activity menu. See: How Can I Track My Dog's Activity? to set your new goal.
Note, you can only set goals by 500 increments, so for a 1 million step goal within the Fi Ranks, you’ll need to set a goal of 36,000 steps a day (since 1 million divided by 28 is 35,714 - round up).
